Dr. Stephen Grove is Manager of Industry Projects and Research Assistant Professor at the Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).
Dr. Grove earned his Bachelor of Applied Science and Honours from RMIT University in Australia before completing his Ph.D. in Agricultural Science at the University of Tasmania. After moving to IFSH as a post-doctoral researcher in 2007, he helped establish the foodborne virus research program.
Dr. Grove has been responsible for a variety of industry and government-funded research projects involving fresh-cut produce, low moisture foods, novel processing methods, and both bacterial and viral pathogens. He is also the Coordinator of the Sprout Safety Alliance, a public-private partnership charged with developing a core curriculum, training and outreach programs for the sprout production community to enhance the industry’s understanding and implementation of best practices for promoting sprout safety.
