Dr. Andi Shane is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Emory University School of Medicine with an adjunct appointment in the Hubert Department of Global Health in the Rollins School of Public Health. Her research interests include the applications of therapeutic microbiology (probiotics and prebiotics) to preventing and treating enteric infections and to improving enteric vaccine efficacy. She is a collaborator in the Emory Global Health Residence Scholars Program, an exchange program between Addis Ababa University in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Emory University, where she is building educational and research capacity. She is actively involved in the education of trainees in the design and implementation of clinical trials and has applied this interest to collaborations to understand the molecular epidemiology of norovirus infections among children and the elderly, in the era of universal uptake of rotavirus vaccines.
