Dr. Kirby is an Assistant Research Professor in the Center for Global Safe Water at Emory University. She received her PhD from the University of Buffalo, SUNY in Molecular Microbiology, and her MPH in Epidemiology from Emory University. Her work focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of norovirus, including determinants of susceptibility and the immune response to infection. She uses human challenge models to characterize the response to infection. In addition, she is estimating the burden of norovirus infection in the US using serum samples from the NHANES study.
