Rebecca M. Goulter obtained her degree in Food Technology with first class Honors in 2008 from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. She completed her Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Queensland in 2011 in collaboration with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Australia’s national scientific research facility. She has considerable experience in the field of food safety with a relatively high number of publications in this area for her short career. Dr. Goulter has also won a number of awards for her academic achievements, and has given a number of proffered and invited presentations at international conferences. She is currently involved with the USDA-NIFA Food Virology Collaborative at North Carolina State University as the Associate Director of Scientific Affairs. Her research interests focus on foodborne viruses, particularly the noroviruses, with an emphasis on molecular based detection methods and viral-particle interactions within relevant matrices.
