Katie Gensel obtained a B.S. in Zoology with a minor in Microbiology, and a B.A. in Spanish Language & Literature at North Carolina State University, followed by additional coursework and research in food microbiology. She then spent three years as a Research Technician at UNC Chapel Hill, conducting experiments on the evolution of novel host use in bacteriophage. Past research experience includes transferability and persistence of norovirus, endocrine controls of avian reproductive behavior, and avian population research.
Katie is now the Science Communications Specialist for NoroCORE, facilitating NoroCORE communications, maintaining the NoroCORE website, and preparing print materials for the Collaborative.
